Well here we are. Would never have guessed the prairies but we are rather liking it.
How did we end up here after 7 months in Mexico? Work really. We needed a just a little work online to stay. I did get a little but $15 over 5 months for my blog didn't quite cut it. It was interesting to do and I may just continue.
Bruce applied for all he could find online but nada. So he decided to apply a little farther a field back to Mem. Gardens and so off to Winnipeg we headed.
The dear friends we met in Mexico were amazing and it was tough to say good bye. It was the experience of a life time. So although it didn't work out for us to stay long term we certainly have no regrets about going. It was very enriching.
Now we are getting to know the friends here and they have certainly treated us like extended family.
Here are the lovely elms that greeted us in late Sept. They were so pretty. The trees coming up and over the boulevards make it very picturesque.

On thing we found fascinating is that there are no driveways in the front of the houses in this part of town. There are back lanes between the rows of houses and everyone has their parking or garage back there.
The sunrises are quite spectacular. As Winnipeg is so flat just living on the second floor gives you a very good view.
Note the snow also. We have likely had snow from at least early Nov. Once it comes, it stays. Just get used to it. As the temperature is cold then the snow is light. Much easier to shovel than the wet stuff in the Maritimes. There have to be some perks to it staying below -5C all winter.
One day the snow was so different. It was like little slivers. Would have been nasty if there was a wind. Reminded me of hoar frost we had seen in Guelph during our Pio. School in '07. This snow is on a mailbox. Very pretty to see.
Just a few blocks from us is the, now decommissioned and being demolished, Blue Bombers stadium.
One Saturday Bruce was working and I felt an overwhelming desire to go and buy a couple of house plants. We had recently moved into our apt. and it needed some life in it. The light is great so it was screaming for plants. Most of you know that a whisper would have done it for me to buy plants. Off I head to Home Depot with my fold up insulated picnic bag under my arm. Don't want the little darlings to get cold.
I'm wondering if I look a bit strange with this thing under my arm. Then I realize there are a whole lot of people walking the same direction but they have on heavy clothing and snow pants. All of a sudden I see a guy running in my direction and he runs up a back alley. This guys got on a wig that is half yellow and blue. What is going on? Its the Bombers last game in the stadium. Really its the second annual last game as they played the last game last year. Guess construction was a little slower than anticipated on the new stadium. Looked like there was some delicious tale gate party food being served up in the parking lot.
Needless to say I just blended right in and got my plants home safe and warm.
Oh yes Winnie the Pooh. The original bear was named by a soldier after Winnipeg.
